ABOUT HIGH COUNTRY OUTFITTERS:
We are licensed through the Idaho Outfitters & Guides Licensing Board, Lic. #8890, operating by USFS special use permit, and are bonded and insured. We offer high quality service in the outdoor recreation industry: hunting, fishing, day rides, pack trips, wagon rides and more. Our camps are professional, clean, and always fun. We provide gentle horses and mules to transport our customers and their gear. Our licensed guides are often requested again by returning clients. Their knowledge and attention to detail proves to be among the best in the business. We implement Leave No Trace Guidelines.
High Country Outfitters prides itself in professional, customized hunting and fishing trips, catering to your personal preference-we build the trip around you. During your trip, our cook will prepare a variety of meals described from "down-home cookin'" to "gourmet cuisine". If you have special dietary needs, we are happy to accommodate. OUR OPERATION AREAS:
- BIG SMOKY:
Encompassing 250 square miles of the Sawtooth Wilderness / National Forest, this area includes over 300 miles of trails, four major rivers and 200+ alpine lakes. We operate out of Trappers Inn and offer: lodging, cabin rentals, RV hookups, trail rides, pack trips, wagon rides, packing schools, dutch oven dinners, reunions/parties, fishing and big game hunting and game advertising. The fishing here is outstanding for cutthroat, golden, eastern brook and rainbow trout, and we even boast a fall run of kokanee salmon. We hunt elk, mule deer, black bear, mountain_lion, mountain goat and grouse.
- BIG CREEK:
Located in the 2.4 million acre Frank Church Wilderness Area, our portion is over 180 square miles. Accessed only via trailhead or air taxi to a backcountry airstrip, this area is truly remote. We offer outstanding big game hunting and fishing in this area and both are world class! The fishing here is catch-and-release only for native cutthroat trout. We hunt elk, mule deer, black bear, mountain lion and bighorn sheep.
- HOSMER, SOUTH DAKOTA:
Wild pheasant hunts on 4000+ private acres in Hosmer, South Dakota. Haerter's Farm supports an amazing population of wild pheasants (no pen raised birds) as well as some sharptail grouse and hungarian partridge. The South Dakota F&G is claiming that this year will be the best hunting out of the last fifty! We also offer whitetail deer and spring snow goose hunts.
